- In 1981, Jean-Claude Biver and Jacques Piguet set out on a mission to revive the mechanical watchmaking legacy. Their endeavor culminated in the relaunch of the storied Blancpain brand, a name that has been synonymous with horological excellence since time immemorial. - The Villeret collection represents Blancpain's most classic and authentic line of watches, embodying the pure lines and values of traditional Swiss watchmaking. The present 33.5mm yellow gold example, produced in the early 1990s, is one of the earliest Villeret ref. 7001 released, as evidenced by the serial number 1 engraved on the caseback. - Powering this iconic timepiece is the Frederic Piguet caliber 64-1, a heavily upgraded version of the Peseux 7001 movement, which contributes to the slim profile of the Villeret design. Presented in very attractive condition, the case has developed a subtle oxidized patina, which means it has been carefully preserved in a safe for an extended period.
